Special Honorary Tribute

Award Recipients
Seymour J. Abrams Chesed Award

Eric and Gale Rothner are world renowned for their chesed and benevolence on behalf of Jewish educational and charitable institutions. As global philanthropists, they sit on the boards of many Jewish institutions the world over.

Locally, the Rothners have been involved in numerous community accomplishments, including many Chabad and Cheder endeavors. The Rothners were very instrumental in Cheder’s acquisition of the former Temple Menorah building for the Philip & Rebecca Esformes Cheder Lubavitch Girls School.

It is most fitting that the prestigious Seymour J. Abrams Chesed Award be bestowed upon this deserving couple.

Community Service Award

Aryeh Leib and Rachelle Benjamin have been parents, friends, and supporters of Cheder for nearly thirty years. Rachelle was a Cheder teacher, and Aryeh Leib has served as Chairman of the Board and legal counsel.

Aryeh Leib is an attorney with ReedSmith, LLP, and Rachelle is involved with many charitable and community projects. They have seven children, all of whom have attended Cheder. They currently live in West Rogers Park.

Although active in several organizations and groups, they manage to find time and energy to be there for Cheder.
