Incredible Dedication, Strength and Resilience

In mid-March of 2020, teachers were given little notice and even less training to shift very quickly to distance learning. In many cases, they had to reinvent lessons for an already planned curriculum, learn new technologies, find creative solutions, and figure out how to keep students engaged. When we resumed in-person learning, teachers had to again adjust to a new school experience, COVID-19 regulations, and the difficulty welcoming back students who had been out of a school environment for many months.
How do we even begin to appreciate teachers in this current situation? If you are a parent or a community member, one of the best ways to appreciate teachers is to not forget what this experience has been like. A year from now, whether we’ve resumed “normal” life or not, let’s hold onto this for greater understanding of the value of teachers and their dedication to their work and to our children.
