This year's annual Cheder gala banquet is going to be unique. Besides for the regular mash up of delicious food, interesting speeches and videos, we’re going to be completing a brand-new Torah scroll right at the dinner.

No ordinary Torah scroll, this Torah is being given to the Cheder students by Sherwin and Pam Willner and family. Dedicated in memory of Sheriwn's parents, Ben and Mary Willner, it is going to live in the Cheder, where it will be accessible to the general student body on a regular basis.

The Willners are generously sharing the merit of purchasing this scroll with the wider community. This means you can purchase letters, words and even entire sections of the Torah in honor or in memory of friends and family. Besides for supporting Cheder, you’ll also be fulfilling the mitzvah to write or commission a Torah scroll, so this is an opportunity you do not want to miss.

The dinner will be held (with the help of G‑d) at the Palmer House Hilton on February 12 at 5:30 in the evening.

Some of the highlights of the evening will be helping the scribe write the last few letters in the Torah and a joyous traditional dance as the Torah is symbolically welcomed to its new home.

The theme of the dinner is “Our Children, Our Guarantors.” There is no better way of expressing how the children of Cheder guaranty the continuity of Torah Judaism than by gifting them this special Torah.
